Parables is a niche imprint for fiction and poetry with a theme or characters representative of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Based in Maryland, it was launched in 2006 with the publication of Ariane Cope’s The Coming of Elijah, which won the Marilyn Brown Novel Award sponsored by the Association for Mormon Letters. In 2008 Angela Hallstrom’s Bound on Earth won The Whitney Award for Best Novel by a New Author. Elizabeth Bentley’s A Plentiful Rain was a Whitney Finalists in 2014, and C. David Belt has had two Whitney Award Finalists: The Penitent in 2012 and The Arawn Prophecy in 2018. After a brief hiatus, Parables is again soliciting manuscripts for its 2021 season.
